STEM ResearcHER is a 501c3 nonprofit organization working to bridge the gender and accessibility gap in STEM research fields through speaker workshops, mentorship programs, and other community events.


Bootcamp Update

STEMResearcHER has spots open in our education team! On the education team, you will support our Directors of Education in developing our curriculum, planning events, and mentoring students. This opportunity is open to highschool students and is a great way to develop your leadership skills, work with like-minded students, and explore STEM!

STEM Summer Opportunities that are Still Open!
1. Lawrence Hall of Science – UC Berkeley
Programs: Artificial Intelligence, Biotech Engineering, Climate Data Analysis
Dates: Various sessions in July 2025
Eligibility: Grades 10–12

2. Stanford Introduction to Logic
Format: Online two-week camp

STEM Clubs Highschoolers can Start
1. Girls Who Code Club
A national nonprofit club focused on closing the gender gap in tech.
Offers free curriculum for learning to code and building real-world projects.
2. Biotech or Medical Research Club
Explore topics like genetics, CRISPR, and diseases.
Organize journal discussions, guest speakers, and DIY experiments (e.g., gel electrophoresis simulations).
3. Engineering Design Club
Build hands-on projects (bridges, water filters, Rube Goldberg machines).
Host design challenges and showcase builds at school events.
4. Science Communication Club

Techbridge Girls, one of STEMResearcHER’s partners does amazing work to help reduce disparities in STEM.
Get Involved:
Volunteer at a STEM Role Model Event
Share your career journey and inspire girls by participating in panels or small group discussions.Lead a STEM Activity

Advice for Careers in Nursing
Explore the Field
Shadow a Nurse: Reach out to local hospitals, clinics, or school nurses to observe a nurse’s daily routine.
Attend Nursing Camps: Look for summer programs such as:
Stanford Clinical Summer Internship
National Student Leadership Conference – Nursing
Camp Cardiac or Camp Neuro
Build a Strong Academic Foundation
Focus on science courses: biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology.
Take AP or honors classes if available to prepare for college-level work.
Earn CPR and First Aid certifications through organizations like the Red Cross.
Get Involved
Volunteer at hospitals, nursing homes, or public health organizations.
Join or start a HOSA-Future Health Professionals chapter at your school.
Participate in science or health-related clubs and competitions.
Plan Ahead
Research BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) programs and what requirements they have.
Consider applying to direct-admit nursing programs, which allow you to begin nursing coursework earlier.
Understand nursing pathways: CNA, LPN, RN, BSN, NP, and DNP.
